Someone told me that what you do on the first day of the new year sets the tone for the rest of the year. Well if that is true than we did it right. We went hiking in the Superstition Mountains. We picked a new area and found a 6 mile loop, which included a secondary trail back. Sometimes these trails prove to be great and at times, like this time, often hard to find.
We hiked up a canyon to the top where this is what greeted us:
On the way back we followed the secondary trail. At first it was fine, we spotted cairns to help guide us and then they went away. We were standing at the top of a giant rock and there seemed no more trail. Guess we just go down and we will figure it out at the bottom.

We finally found the trail again and we were on our way. We were alone on this trail which was nice. We made our way along the primitive trail and finally made it down. It was a great day. If what you do the first day is how your year will be, then we will have an adventurous and fun year. Another thing this hike did was inspire some of you to come visit. Who knew that a little bragging about my day would cause the Doshis to get on a plane and head out here in 2 weeks. What else can we do to entice the rest of you to come out and visit?
Maybe the fact that we noticed the mountain greening up will bring some of you to see the wild flowers.
We went hiking again yesterday to yet another new area. As we were hiking we noticed a lot of green popping up. With the bonus rain today, we might have another spectacular spring. The desert in bloom is the most beautiful thing.

We spent the day in Japan seeing the Big Buddha there. So I guess that means I am Buddaliscius and will eat ramen for the next year. Probably true since we are totally unemployed.
