Well they got here late, no fry bread for them. However we did go for a hike to our cache and continued up the trail for a good view of the valley below.
We then met up with Brian at the house and got ready for dinner. When Becky and I went to put our name in at the door of the restaurant, I expected a 2-3 hour wait, that's typical, and so worth it. However, what came out of that woman's mouth was a 3.5-4 hour wait. What? Do you know what you can do in 4 hours? A lot. So we decided to try another city pizza place. There we only waited 20 minutes and it was yummy and the place was really cute.
Saturday we got up early and headed to Sedona. Yes yes, we take everyone there, most people request it, but it really is a place you should all see.
We had plans to do a specific hike and cache along the way. We managed to get the point where the cache was, except it was 100 feet above us. So we treked our way to the top of the mesa. The views were awesome as usual and Brian and I experienced our first encounter with Arizona snow.
We ended up on top of Brins Mesa. That name may ring a bell, it was the name given the the large fire that burned thousands of acres in Sedona over the summer.
Yes that is snow!
We made our way to the cache and there we were back to the place we were originally. Finally Sunil found it. It was worth the 4 mile trip to find this cache. If you read their blog than you know that from there we took a short cut down through the crevasse.
Happy cachers
Sunday we went to the Olive Mill and learned all about the olive oil. If you are buying extra light olive oil thinking its low in fat and calories, you are wrong, dead wrong. Its just reduced in color and flavor and you are being ripped off.
We of course caught a sunset on top of South Mountain that evening and then Brian had to leave us to go to Austin for a class for 2 weeks.
Monday we started our day with a hike in Northern Phoenix. We were hiking for the exercise and views, but most importantly the caches. Once we got to the top and found the caches, we headed back home.
Ignore the pollution in the background
Before taking Becky and Sunil to the airport, we stopped for lunch at the Fry Bread House. They loved it of course and are now hooked on it. Its like crack, its that good. I said my farewell at the airport and off they went to catch a flight to Hawaii, those lucky bastards.
We had a great time showing them around our new town and we were so happy to have them come and visit.
I will be flying off to Austin on Friday to spend the weekend with Brian. Sweet!
