To The River

Ahhhh, it is time again to kayak on the Salt River. This weekend, a fellow volunteer from Liberty invited us to join her and some friends on the river. I was so excited.

The river was a little low so we put in farther down where another river connects with the Salt. We were only going to be on the river about an hour and half. That was fine with us, we just wanted to get the kayak on the water again.

We got in around 9:30 and started on our way. We have always seen bald eagles on this trip so we were looking forward to finding them again. About 1/2 way down we spotted it. There in a big tree was an eagle nest. We all beached ourselves on a sand bar and the binoculars came out.

There was a bald eagle in the nest feeding her babies. We couldn't see the babies but it was clear what she was doing. We stayed there for about a half hour just watching. The male came in with some food and took off again.

Not too far down from the nest we spotted the male in a tree. He was probably watching for fish to grab.

We took our time down the river, enjoying the perfect temps and all the great scenery. What a great way to spend a morning.
