A Welcome Stranger

It rains so infrequently here that you almost forget that rain exists. Same for clouds. It is approaching monsoon season here and we are very excited, you can feel the buzz all over the valley.

It hasn't rained here since mid April and I am not even exaggerating. That's why monsoon season is so exciting. Its going to rain and almost daily for about a month. Cool raindrops smacking the dusty earth for short periods at a time, its awesome.
Yesterday as we were getting ready to go for our evening walk we noticed this

Oh could it be, rain? Actually it looked like rain and dust. Most likely it was raining but evaporating before it hit the ground. The weather man says that will happen the first couple of storms. We ended up with a lot of wind and dust instead, but did you see the clouds, the ones that blocked the sun? Glorious!

As the evening rolled on it started to lightning and then it happened, we felt them on our skin, RAIN DROPS! It rained so briefly but enough to wet the ground and make the whole outside smell like rain. Ahhhhh, yes monsoon season, welcome.
