Progress

We got a lot done over the weekend. However, neither room is completely done. The bathroom was the easiest to tackle so it got first dibs. I got it almost totally painted, Brian hung the mirrors, and reinstalled the hideous light. Once our neighbor is done borrowing our ladder I can finish painting. Sweet!

This is the only before picture I have of the bathroom, but you can see the mirror
a little and no handles on the cupboards and color

Paint, mirrors and hardware

The bamboo floor installation was not as simple. We figured that a new house would have even, level floors. Well as we laid out boards for a dry fit we soon realized that we were wrong. It seemed that one area of the room was very uneven and this would be a problem. So off to Home Depot to buy floor leveler. This set our Saturday progress back a bit. Brian poured it and now we had to wait. Other things that set our day back were Brian not feeling well, a NOFX show that evening, and a class on how to install the flooring that morning. At least the bathroom was getting done.

Sunday started with better results. We got to work right away, the floor was more level, and we were all feeling good besides the ringing ears. It seemed to go so slow at first, put the glue down for only a few rows, lay out the boards, pound in place and then do it again. Once we got half the room done it seemed to be moving much faster, we had this down. It all ended at about 8 pm, we got all the floor down and it looks awesome. I am so impressed with us, with Brian, with bamboo flooring. Now it has to sit for a day and set up or whatever.

Just getting started

Half way there

The final product, gorgeous!

Brian is again in Tucson this week but should be home Wednesday. We will then install the base boards and move all the furniture back in. Oh man it looks so good, I hate to spoil it with my crappy stuff.

We hope to have the room done in time for the T's arrival at the end of the week. Their room is now full of other furniture and the futon is still living outside, freezing. The T's are currently in route from MD to LA. They will layover here until their stuff gets to LA.

Anyway, that was our weekend. We did not step outside, not at all. It was freezing here all weekend. 50 tops, which is total crap. Pipes are breaking all over town as they freeze over night. However, being the desert, we will be in the 60s again by Wed, and all normalness will be restored in the universe.
