Sedona Again!

Our friends Ian and Val have come to visit us. Some of you may remember them from our going away party and Ian was in our wedding.


They have been here since Tuesday evening, right around the same time it got to be in the 90's here. Now I am not rubbing it in that it is that warm, in fact, it's a little too warm. It jumped from 80 to 91 in a day, not cool weather, not cool. Especially not cool for people coming from Pittsburgh where its cold.

Wednesday both Brian and I had to work so we gave them maps, bikes and advice and left them to explore. They choose to hike the trail behind our house. I was only gone for 5 hours and they were back before I was, not a good sign. I realized it was too hot for them and we needed to head north with them.

Thursday we all had off so we went the Tonto Natural Bridge in Payson. It is at least 10 degrees cooler there and has lots more trees. We hiked around there for a while and, yes, cached too.
We picniced in the park and the most awesome thing happened, a group of javalinas walked out into the field to eat. I took about a million photos because I may never see them in the wild again, they are a rare site.


We left them alone again on Friday and then they mentioned going to Sedona on Saturday. Now we are always happy to show friends and family around the state, but we are cutting off Sedona for a couple of months starting now. We like it there and its pretty, but we are sick of it. So if you are coming to visit in the next couple of months, you can borrow a car and go yourself. We are looking to spend more time in Flagstaff and places that are cooler this summer.

So Saturday rolls around and we head to Sedona. We chose a trail we had never hiked that would take us on a 5 mile journey through a canyon. It was a very nice trail that had lots of big pines and lots of shade. Of course they liked Sedona, everyone does, you'd have to be a real jerk to not appreciate this place.


Now its Sunday and still in the 90's and all the things we want to do involve us going outside in the sun. No one is pumped about this so we end up doing nothing, all day, nothing. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday really.

We dropped them off this evening and now we are getting ready for work week. Our next visitors, Dawn and Sean, arrive this Thursday. The weather is suppose to get much better this week, back to normal. Lucky them.
