We paddled out aiming for an island out in the distance. Not long after we started I realized that it sucked. The waves were rocking us, we were taking in water, and I was getting motion sick. Great! Awesome! I envisioned us dying in a horrible collision with a speed boat.
We paddled toward shore in hopes of finding safety in the no wake zone. From there we kept paddling for the island. With the boat still taking on water and my ass totally numb from being wet, we circled the island and decided to go back.
We both agreed that kayaking is fun when its not so bumpy and wet and dangerous. We never made it to the island with the caches, we would have capsized before we made it.
We called it a day and packed the car up and headed home. Not wanting to waste such a great day we decided to do a little hiking once we got home.
Plans change though. We were gross from the lake water that caked our skin and we already had our suits on....So we went swimming. That's right, we jumped in the pool. April 14th and we were swimming. The pool was about 74 degrees and it was about 85 degrees outside. It was shocking and refreshing.
We did go hiking afterward to get a cache. It was about 6 pm when were approaching the cache site when we heard the coyote off in the distance. Its hard to explain South Mountain. Its a huge park with lots of great hiking. Most of the trails allow great views of the city and town below. There are few areas that you are not within site of some view of civilization. But still with all the traffic and people all around, you still get the thrill of hearing a coyote just over the ridge from you. Its so awesome.
Anyway, the weekend ended with Brian doing a hammock project in the backyard. I will let him tell you all about it once its done. No doubt it will entice some of you to come here.
