A typical summer day in Maryland is 85 degrees with 80% humidity. Accoring to the Heat Index chart, that also feels like 97 degrees.
So you can see that 105 is not as awful as it sounds.
We spent today showing my sister and brother-in-law around Phoenix. They "tolerated" the heat, enjoyed the desert landscape, liked Tempe, really liked Scottsdale, and posed for this picture in front of a huge Saguaro cactus.

In a humid climate, the rate at which sweat evaporates, therefore making the person feel cooler, is slower than in a dry climate like Farizona. So people just feel more comfortable in a drier climate...it's really just perception. To me, that means in Phoenix, when it rains, it's raining other people's sweat on you. Gross.
We got 5-7 inches of rain yesterday. They call it a wet heat. If it were snow, it would have been 70 inches. They would have called that a wet cold.
Man, it's like the end of times here...
Dawn and Sean look like they are melting. It must be that dry heat. I don't buy that humidity to temperature ratio. It is damn hot here!!! I am going to try to fry an egg on Brian's VW before we leave.
